New house, Horncastle

New house for private clients, combining contemporary spatial planning and traditional detailing. The plan also draws on traditional country house typologies and forms. Working closely with the client, the design evolved with careful attention to materials and details, as well as integrating the house and external spaces. The South facing L plan has ample glazing to provide passive solar heating which, combined with high levels of insulation and use of recycled and renewable materials, makes the house very energy efficient.
