Planning Permission for Lincoln Care Home
Planning permission has been granted for a Lincoln care home by Lincoln City Council. The new 75 bedroom care home will be situated on Long Leys Road in Lincoln and it will include day rooms, hobby rooms, dining rooms, a hairdressers and ancillary accommodation. The home will be set within landscaped gardens along with with car parking and cycle storage.
The form and materials of the care home reflect the character of the neighbouring buildings on Long Leys Road. The plan form is of three wings enclosing a central courtyard garden for residents; the side wings extend to the street frontage creating prominent gables each side of the entrance frontage. Whilst reflecting the character of the Victorian and Edwardian built form locally, the style and detailing of the care home is contemporary and is designed to be energy efficient with good daylighting and a combination of modern and traditional materials.
Housing and care for the elderly is becoming increasingly significant as the population ages and there is a shortage of housing that can meet the needs of those requiring an assisted living environment. According to Age UK, the number of people aged over 85 – the group most likely to need care, has risen by 30% from 2005 to 2014
