An energy study and report to help St Lawrence Church, Frodingham reduce its energy use in line with the Church of England’s Shrinking the Footprint initiative. The existing energy use was profiled for the church and adjacent church hall, looking at the buildings’ fabric, ventilating, heating and lighting systems and water use. Options were investigated for improvements to walls, floors, roofs and windows as well as options for renewable energy heating systems including biomass boilers and ground source heat pumps. Internal re-ordering of the church was also investigated to improve it’s use and flexibility.
Proposals were also drawn up for a new community hall to be sited on the land at the rear of the church, replacing the existing Parish Hall on Church Lane. The proposed community hall consists of an entrance foyer, main hall with storage, kitchen, meeting room and toilet facilities.
