This extension and conversion of a Victorian house for Lincolnshire County Council Social Services provides residential accommodation for 6 children and administrative, support and residential staff. The brief called for a robust and secure facility with a child-friendly, domestic feel. Laundry, kitchen and activity rooms are designed and equipped to encourage the children to gain experiences of domestic activities.
Externally, the extensions were design to continue the style of the existing building, which was repaired and cleaned, creating a seamless whole. Gardens were landscaped and parking areas provided, as well as paved terraces for the children.
