A new housing development of three detached dwelling with a new car park to provide 24 additional spaces for the neighbouring Tanglewood Care Home.
The proposed dwellings reference the strong vertical presence of the Victorian dwellings on the street, incorporating gable ended with double storey projecting bays, taking the traditional bay window and simplifying its form.
Modern requirements of light, energy efficiency and access generate a more contemporary style to the rear of the dwellings, with larger areas of glazing and a two storey addition which creates additional floor area to manage the requirements of modern day family living.
The design retains the simple material palette of red brick and slate that has established itself in the surrounding area. Additional references to period features such as emphasising vertical openings, providing stone heads and sills, and reproducing shallow eaves and plain closed verges will also allow the houses to sit comfortable within the character of the area.
