Proposals for the refurbishment and alterations of a unique building in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The owners are keen to preserve the integrity and history of the building and whilst maintaining its current use as both work and living accommodation.
Entrances have been relocated to clearly define the centre of the dwelling, extended and raised outdoor area is orientated at the same angle as the river Trent which the building overlooks, this encourages views out onto the Trent and creates contemporary shapes at the same time.
The main feature of the social/living space is the intern/external balcony space which is access via large glass folding doors. This balcony area follows the same plane and angle as a raised entrance area creating uniformity through the design and adding a modern aspect.
