New multi-use community centre and church replacing existing St Georges Church, Crosby buildings. The centre will include community hall for sports, performance and other uses, along with a children’s centre, cafe and adult education centre as well as meeting rooms and multi-media suite.
The centre and church will form a new focal point for the community and is designed to have a strong presence on Frodingham Road.
The depressed physical appearance of Frodingham Road needs a building to ‘lift’ it and inspire confidence in both area and the people. The church and Greeson Hall are subject to regular vandalism and need security by design built-in. A place that will provide facilities to meet the needs of the surrounding public. A building that is affordable to run and incorporates the principles of sustainable development with a low carbon footprint and the possibilities of rainwater harvesting and using renewable energy sources.
