Proposal to replace existing buildings which were split into individual retail units on the ground floor with apartments on the first floor. Situated on Church Road North in Skegness this new social housing development will be six, three storey single bed dwellings split into two separate blocks of three.
It has been determined the existing buildings would not be able to be converted cost efficiently due to the restrictions of the site being located in flood zone three.
The layout of the proposed dwellings has been heavily influenced by current Environment Agency guidance. The main living areas of the dwelling, the lounge, kitchen and dining space, are all accommodated on the first floor. The kitchen / dining space is positioned at the front of the house, with the lounge overlooking the rear garden. The bedroom is located within the roof space on the top floor, providing a separation between the more public living spaces and the private bedroom space. The bedroom, located within the dormer roof space overlooks the rear garden, and minimises the impact on the front elevation by the use of a roof light.
