The urban grain of this proposed social housing development has been designed to echo the existing character of Wainfleet. Wainfleet has grown from its dense central core of terraced dwellings into a more sub-urban areas on the outskirts of the town.
The proposed street space of the new development has been formed to continue the design language of the adjoining streets but with reference to the pattern of this historic core of the town. Consistent frontages and short runs of terrace are in keeping with this.
The variety of house types required allows for a variation in the scale of the proposed dwellings. A prerequisite of the initial brief was that two 1 bed 2 person houses were included in the scheme. These smaller scale dwellings have been located close to the existing single storey properties which help to minimise the impact of the raised levels.
